Biodiversity of the Grand Lieu lake
• 550 species of plants recorded in this faunal paradise.
• 270 species of birds, which places it in second place behind the Camargue. In spring, 2000 pairs of herons meet there. White spoonbills nest there. In winter, 25,000 ducks rest there.
• 50 species of mammals including the otter.
• 30 species of fish including eel.
• 12 species of amphibians including the common frog and the midwife toad.
