• 550 species of plants identified in this wildlife paradise.

• 270 species of birds, which places it in second place behind the Camargue. In the spring, 2000 pairs of herons meet there. White spoonbills nest there. In winter, 25,000 ducks roost there.

• 50 species of mammals including the otter.

• 30 species of fish including eel.

• 12 species of amphibians including the common frog and the midwife toad.
